Wajer 77 Delivery: From Factory to Shipping Vessel in Rotterdam
Smooth Power and Rough Seas: Delivering the Wajer 77 from Fryslân to Rotterdam
In August 2024, WH Headways had the privilege of delivering a brand-new Wajer 77 ft motor yacht from Fryslân to Rotterdam. While motor yacht deliveries aren’t our usual focus, we were honored that one of the most prestigious Dutch shipyards trusted us with this impressive vessel.
Before departure, we thoroughly inspected all onboard technologies and conducted detailed engine tests to ensure a safe and smooth journey. We also made sure all necessary documents were onboard before setting course for Rotterdam.
However, the journey didn’t start entirely as planned. The Den Oever lock was out of service, so we rerouted to Kornwerderzand. Once we entered the Wadden Sea, the yacht effortlessly handled the shallow waters and choppy waves, showcasing the strength and stability of the Wajer 77.
After rounding Den Helder, we entered the North Sea, where a strong western wind created choppy conditions. Despite the rough seas, the yacht performed exceptionally well, maintaining an impressive average speed of 28 knots.
Halfway through the passage, we spotted a small vessel approaching us. As it came closer, we realized it was a RIB carrying officers from the Marechaussee, Police, Coast Guard, and Customs. They boarded our yacht for a routine inspection. Given the rough conditions, there weren’t many vessels at sea, so they appreciated the opportunity to conduct a thorough check—and we shared a laugh about it!
Later that day, we smoothly entered the Port of Rotterdam, where traffic control guided us safely to our destination.
We are incredibly grateful for this experience and look forward to future collaborations with leading Dutch shipyards.
